Cambridge - Its narrow streets and historic colleges are famed across the world, as are its legions of cycling students, and there can be few people who have not seen pictures of punts gliding down the willow-lined River Cam. Cambridge.

Cambridge News
The Cambridge Evening News owes its existence to the vision of one man, William Farrow Taylor.
A businessman described as "a character of strength and independence", he was convinced there was a good market in Cambridge for an evening newspaper.
But when the first editions of the Cambridge Daily News hit the streets in 1888, it seemed he might have misjudged things.
People were slow to latch on to it, and it was not instantly profit-making. Newspapers were still considered an expensive indulgence by some people ? even though the News only cost a halfpenny.
After a few years, however, local people came to hunger for the mix of sport, readers, letters and news from all over the world that the paper brought them, and sales steadily started to increase.
Journalists, advertising staff and other employees moved to Milton two years ago, and today the entire Cambridge Newspapers Ltd operation, is based there.
Over its 110-year lifespan, the paper has prided itself on serving the community in all kinds of ways, by publicising events, helping businesses to advertise and campaigning on key local issues.
